We are looking for a Field Engineer to join our Technical Services Team. The ICI Technical Services Team is comprised of experienced professionals who work on innovative projects in water, waste-water and industrial processes.

 

This full-time position will be based out of ICI Electrical Engineering’s office in Kamloops, BC with work throughout the province.

 

The Field Engineer will supervise, coordinate and document all controls and modernization project field work and commissioning, including the development and delivery of technical training to facility operators. The successful candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting and programming PLC and SCADA systems while working safely on remote sites.

 

In addition to overseeing the technical and administrative requirements, the Field Engineer will encourage a safe working environment and actively participate in corporate Health and Safety initiatives.

Minimum qualifications we are looking for:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution

  • Eligible for professional registration with EGBC, either Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training

  • 5+ years’ direct experience commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting control systems within industrial or municipal settings

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting industrial controls (Schneider EcoStruxure), SCADA systems (Citect, Wonderware), process drives and low voltage power systems

  • Understanding of general construction, field review and contract management processes such as permits, change orders, RFIs, deficiency reporting, closeout

  • Ability to prepare and present technical information (project updates, field reports, deficiency reports, etc.) to a variety of audiences and to satisfy compliance requirements

  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, employer/supervisor roles and responsibilities, and hazards/controls within an industrial setting

  • Substantial knowledge of regulatory standards and codes (CSA, BC Hydro/FortisBC, Canadian Electrical Code & IEEE, etc.) and common project requirements (Telus, Shaw, etc.)

  • Industrial protocols knowledge and experience (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, RS-485, DNP3, etc.) 

  • Personal interest in working with and testing new technologies 

 

Additional requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must be fluent in English

  • Valid, clean Class 5 Drivers’ Licence and access to safe, reliable, 4-season transportation

  • Based out of the Kamloops office and available to travel 80% of the time

  • Related project experience conducted in Canada
