We are looking for an Industrial Network Specialist to join our Controls Team in a full-time position based in Kamloops, BC. The controls team is comprised of experienced professionals who work on innovative projects in water, waste-water and industrial processes.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of a comprehensive network system for a client in British Columbia. The system includes approximately 25 physical sites containing a combination of industrial controls and industrial PC’s running various versions of Windows operating systems. Training on systems specific to the industrial systems will be provided, if required. Coordination and open communication with the client will be the key to success. All work will be completed in a manner that assures technical accuracy and sound design and it is a requirement that all personnel perform cross-checking and participate in team design review sessions.

 

The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in the areas of network design and industrial security. They must be able to easily transition from in-office design and development to field implementation and verification of design while working safely on remote industrial or municipal sites.

Minimum technical qualifications:

  • Degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related subject area.

  • 5+ years network systems design, integration, security and troubleshooting experience

    • Experience with Schneider Electric (Connexium), Hirschmann, Phoenix Contact, Fortinet, and Sierra Wireless networking equipment is an asset.

  • Personal interest in working with and testing new technologies

  • Knowledge of networking protocols.

    • Experience with industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, RS-485, DNP3, etc.)

  • Virtual machines, particularly VMWare and ESXi, and general server configuration

  • VPN design and configuration, IPSec.

  • Additional skills and experience in wireless networking, backhaul, path loss studies, antenna layout, 3G/4G radio configuration will be an asset.

  • Windows PC, Office365 and AutoCAD proficiency

 

Knowledge of industrial networking security, ethernet networks, serial protocols, creative thinking and electrical problem-solving skills will be tested during the interview process.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent site safety awareness

  • Eligible for professional registration with ASTTBC or EGBC

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Valid, clean Class 5 Drivers’ License and access to safe, reliable, 4-season transportation

  • Position is in the Kamloops office and candidate must be available to travel ~25% of the time
